A newly developed technology allows for the production of clean water out of thin air. New and Master Technologies Limited has created a water harvesting system which collects clean water straight from the atmosphere. It helps to mitigate the safe water supply problems that are seen in developing regions around the world.
The new water harvesting system works by collecting water vapor from the atmosphere. The vapor is passed through a filtration and ozonation system, which ensure that the water is safe to drink by killing bacteria and separating out inorganic minerals.
A water harvesting system that is fit for use in the home or office can produce up to 1,300 liters, or roughly 350 gallons of water in a single day. A commercial water harvesting system can produce over five times that amount, providing 6,800 liters, or 1800 gallons of clean water a day. Health professionals advise that a person drinks between two to three liters of water per day, so a single commercial water harvesting system could provide enough water for roughly 3,000 people per day.
This new water harvesting system is revolutionary because it does not depend on a tangible water source to provide clean water. Clean water could be collected virtually anywhere in the world through the use of the new harvesting technology. This makes the technology even more important in areas suffering from droughts.
