Together with the nonprofit organization Action Against Hunger, the Ultimat Vodka company has launched a new summer campaign titled the Ultimat Lemon-Aid campaign in order to fight world hunger. The campaign is meant to raise both awareness and funds to the plight of world hunger. First and foremost, Ultimat Vodka encourages the public to text “Lemonaid” to 50555 as shown in the photo, in order to donate $5 towards the cause until August 20th, 2013, which is National Lemonade Day.
Action Against Hunger, or ACF International, is a global organization with the primary goal of ending world hunger. The organization wants to provide developing communities with access to safe water as well as solutions to hunger that will be sustainable. Another one of their focuses is saving malnourished children from dying due to the lack of food. The company has 30 years of experience with emergency situations, food insecurity, and natural disasters. Action Against Hunger is present in about 40 countries, and it runs various programs that help to benefit about 5 million people each year. It has various technical programs and creates a positive global impact that grows each year. They are the sponsors of the Ultimat Lemon-Aid campaign to fight world hunger.
Ultimat Vodka is a company that focuses on selling vodka, and it was created by the makers of Patron. They have made a commitment to give all proceeds from the Ultimat Lemon-Aid campaign directly to Action Against Hunger, in order to support its various programs around the world. Ultimat Vodka has decided to take a stand against severe acute malnutrition, which threatens 19 million children around the globe. About 3.5 million children die each year from malnutrition. Ultimat Vodka supports Action Against Hunger’s programs that seek to pioneer nutrition products as well as to field test different treatment programs. Overall, Ultimat Vodka has taken a stand against world hunger. In fact, The Patron Spirits Company (which created Ultimat Vodka) has had a partnership with Action Against Hunger for 5 years. Ed Blinn, one of the first employees of The Patron Spirits Company, started the partnership after a trip to Kenya, where he saw the programs being enacted by Action Against Hunger. Since that trip, the company has been committed to helping Action Against Hunger achieve its mission.
The most recent way that Ultimat Vodka is helping reduce world hunger is through the Ultimat Lemon-Aid campaign. This is a summer-long plan of action to raise money and awareness for the nonprofit organization in the time leading up to National Lemonade Day. In less than 24 hours from the start of the campaign, several thousand dollars had already been raised. A seemingly small donation of $5 can make a large difference in a child’s life. One of the programs that these donations will help fund is the Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs), which are pastes that fight malnutrition in children, and also stand up in the face of severe weather conditions. Perhaps most importantly, they do not have to be mixed with water. Each packet is a mere 33 cents, so $5 could help feed a child for at least 5 full days. A child needs about 45 days of treatment, which means only 9 people need to donate to the cause to help cure a single child. Imagine how much thousands of dollars could help.
Overall, malnutrition is preventable and affordable to treat, and the Ultimat Lemon-Aid campaign will hopefully help to cure tens of thousands of children, based on the generosity of the population.
