LOS ANGELES — Israeli actress Gal Gadot, known for portraying “Wonder Woman” in the DC film, is using social media to advocate for the renowned nonprofit Pencils of Promise (PoP). Gadot takes a stance on education and its importance by promoting equal access to education for children. She is using her platform to raise funds to build schools in underprivileged areas around the world.
Earlier in 2016, the superhero star posted to Facebook about her campaign with PoP, introducing her goal of raising $35,000. The money will be put toward building a new school. Gadot spoke in a video outlining her reasons for partnering with the organization; “As a mother of a five-year-old, I am also someone who’s passionate about helping everyone receive an equal chance at happiness and success… I love Pencils Of Promise because it covers all operational costs through private donors, events and companies. 100 percent of every dollar donated online goes directly into the program to educate all the deserving children.”
Through its direct giving, local leadership and success rate, PoP has made significant progress since its founding. Currently, the organization has built a total of 418 schools. As the latest contributor to the cause, Gadot takes a stance on education, helping to ensure that all children receive the gift of learning.
On a smaller scale, Gadot has shown up to support various local charities including N:Philanthropy. It is a fashion company that gives back by prioritizing pediatric cancer research and donating 10 percent of net proceeds to Children’s Hospital L.A. Following the debut of “Wonder Woman” in theaters, Gadot was among the actresses who attended the N:Philanthropy “Give Back” Garden Party at founder Ashlee Margolis’ home in Beverly Hills. Nyakio Beauty and Fashionable were just a couple of the brands featured at the event. In particular, Fashionable aims to educate attendees on the socially conscious company’s commitment to employing women in Ethiopia, Mexico, Peru and Nashville who have overcome difficult circumstances. These include the sex industry, addiction and homelessness. With the presence of many celebrities on this occasion, Gadot included, such pressing issues garnered media attention which will hopefully help inspire action toward making a difference.
Entering the spotlight, Gadot has truly proven to be a wonder woman on and off-screen. Using her influence to help those in need, even as a rising star, speaks to her character. As Gadot takes a stance on education and other matters, she encourages her fans and viewers to develop one as well and find ways to make the world a better place.
