SEATTLE — Haiti is a Caribbean Island housing nearly 10.5 million people, of which nearly nine million people are living in poverty. Bordered by beautiful beaches, Haiti is categorized as a poverty stricken, destroyed country for several reasons including their economy, the 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew. When considering the devastation, the initial area of inspection would likely not concern Hurricane Matthew’s effect on education in Haiti. ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — This country, like many other Middle Eastern countries, is notorious for inequality between men and women — education being one of the most prominent inequalities. When the Taliban shot Malala Yousafzai in the head in 2012, the gender disparity became more apparent than ever.
