MOROCCO — A small Moroccan NGO known as Education For All (EFA) has spurred change for the better in the Moroccan lifestyle by reducing illiteracy in women. The organization sets an example for the good that can come from a little bit of provision and support. In the rural areas of Morocco, rates of illiteracy in women have spread to cover almost the entire region. Among women and girls, they are reaching almost 90 percent. SEATTLE — The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act (H.R. 3766) with a unanimous vote last night. The legislation now goes to the President’s desk for his signature and enactment into law. The bill passed the Senate unanimously last week. Sponsored by Reps. Ted Poe (R-TX) and Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Sens. SEATTLE — The U.S. Senate unanimously approved the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act (H.R. 3766) on Tuesday night, June 28. However, the Senate made changes to the legislation which the House of Representatives must approve before the bill can be signed into law by the President. The law, if enacted, will require the public posting of data on the efforts of U.S. foreign aid programs. The goal is to bring greater transparency and accountability to these programs and the U.S. government’s overall poverty reduction goals.
