SNOHOMISH, Washington — Ariana Grande is known for her powerhouse vocals, as well as her classy style and beauty. One can almost always spot the 23-year-old wearing high heels, her signature high ponytail and high-class makeup.
Grande recently collaborated with MAC Cosmetics, creating a small, exclusive line of lip products as the brand’s 2016 Viva Glam girl. All proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund (MAF), which supports people affected by HIV and AIDS worldwide. MAF is committed to addressing the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS by supporting communities and organizations that help to prevent the disease through various educational programs. MAF has raised more than $400 million exclusively through the sale of its Viva Glam products to date.
MAC created its first Viva Glam color in 1994 – a bold red – which raised money and awareness for HIV/AIDS at a time when the disease was especially prevalent in fashion communities. Though Grande is the latest celebrity to contribute to the campaign, past famous spokespeople include Lady Gaga, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, Nicki Minaj, Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna.
According to the MAF website, the proceeds of one $17 lipstick can fund important one month’s public transportation to and from doctor visits, one HIV-prevention workshop conducted by a peer health educator, two safer-sex kits or eight nutritious home-cooked meals.
Grande expressed her excitement about the new release on Instagram. “I am beyond honored and excited to be working with a brand that stands for and always has stood for EQUALITY. I have loved & supported @maccosmetics ever since I was a little girl…”
Grande’s support for the MAC AIDS Fund does not go unnoticed and certainly makes a difference in the lives of those affected by such a widespread disease.
